Reuniting Pets With Their Families
Lost & Found
Thank you for visiting the Lost Pets page of the Humane Society of Catawba County. If you believe you may be the owner of one of the pets listed above, please contact us at (828) 464-8878 or email info@catawbahumane.org for more information on reclaiming an animal. We require proof of ownership to reclaim a pet, such as photos and/or veterinary records.
Generally, the Humane Society of Catawba County does not take in stray animals. We are by appointment only for owner surrenders, but the occasional stray animal does come into our care. To locate your lost pet, or if you have questions about how to handle a stray animal you've found, please contact Catawba County Animal Services at (828) 466-6814.
Please note there are two separate animal shelters in Catawba County. While the Humane Society of Catawba County does not generally take in strays, we are happy to keep an eye out for your missing pet. To keep your pet on our radar, please email info@catawbahumane.org with your pet's information and photos.
In addition to checking with the county shelter and this page, please keep up with local Facebook lost and found pet groups, as well as Paw Boost's online profiles for missing and found pets.

When your dog or cat strays from home, it's frightening for everyone. Here are some tips to help reunite you with your companion as quickly as possible.
Please note: the Humane Society of Catawba County and Catawba County Animal Services are two different shelters. HSCC generally does not take in stray animals. If you've lost a pet or found a stray, your first call should be to Catawba County Animal Services at (828) 466-6814. That said, the occasional stray does come to us — we're happy to keep an eye out for yours.

Stray Holding & Microchips
HSCC holds stray pets for 72 hours before assessing them for adoption. As strays come in, we scan them for a microchip and contact the registered owner whenever one is found — one more reason to keep your pet chipped and your information up to date.
Preventing a Lost Pet
- ID tags
Keep a current ID tag on your pet's collar at all times. - Microchip & register
Microchip your pet and keep the registration current as your contact info changes. - Spay/neuter
Altered pets are less likely to roam. - Secure & supervise
Keep dogs leashed or in a fenced area, and don't leave pets unattended.
