Pinto's Purpose
Picture this: you've just adopted a dog, and you can't wait to bring them home. You open the car door, eager to show off their new life — but your new best friend doesn't know that yet. Before you can react, they bolt from the car, leash trailing behind them.
This isn't a hypothetical. It happened to a dog adopted from our facility, and despite an outpouring of effort to find him, his story ended in tragedy. It changed how we think about the moment an adopted dog first leaves our building.
No amount of paperwork or advice can replace one simple safeguard: a dog seatbelt. We named this program Pinto's Purpose, in memory of a dog we dearly loved, to make sure no other family experiences that same loss. Every dog now leaves our building either crated or secured with a seatbelt, so adopters can safely get them inside once they're home.
